The "Sit-in-the-Mix" Vocal Trick

You don't want the vocal to sound like it's "stuck on top" of the mix, so this serial vocal compression trick helps tame the peaks and control the vocals so that they sit better in the mix.

You also don't want your bass to vanish when you're listening on small speakers.

Or worse, overload the mix with muddiness and boom in the low-mids.
